Well kept ales and a fine wines are the backbone of any good pub and we have some of the best – well, at least that’s what our regulars tell us!
Our beers are divided between a good choice of both cask conditioned real ales, much beloved of CAMRA members, and cask beers, including some of the currently very popular hoppy IPAs.
The choice changes every so often – which is, naturally, the perfect reason for popping in, purely for research purposes of course. One of our best loved ales, and perennial ‘session’ favourite, is Timothy Taylor’s Landlord. A strong classic beer with a golden amber colour and an ABV of 4.3% it boasts a caramel, malt and flowery aroma and tastes slightly sweet, with Summer fruits and a hoppy dryness. Indeed we hope to be part of Timothy Taylor’s web-based Pint Finder app means that you can search for your nearest Timothy Taylor pub.
For wine drinkers we offer good value and a good range, be it white, rose, red or sparkling and our separate wine menu offers tasking notes and descriptions to help you make the right choice, whether it comes in a 175ml or 250ml glass or a bottle to enjoy with friends.
We offer wines from France, Italy Australia, Spain, Argentina as well as from England, where we offer a Chapel Down Flint dry white which, as you will find, ‘is full of summery aromas of greengage, pear, citrus, blossom and stone fruit’. We find it is best to order a second glass, just to be sure.
